SharePoint ICYMI: February 2018

Here’s your executive summary of SharePoint / O365 updates as of February 2018.

  • The SharePoint Social Bar is rolling out to Targeted Release customers, and will be rolled out publicly on April 1.
    • What is it?  Per Microsoft: “The Social Bar will . . . give your users the ability to like a page, see the number of views, likes, and comments on a page, and see the people who have liked a page.”
    • Microsoft doesn’t have much documentation on this yet, but I’d expect some in the coming weeks.
  • Compliance Manager has been released as a Public Preview.
    • Compliance Manager is service that works across Microsoft cloud features to help organizations meet compliance obligations, including GDPR, ISO 27001, ISO 27018, NIST 800-53, and HIPAA.
  • OneDrive now lets you view files “Shared by me”, in addition to the existing “Shared with me”.
  • SharePoint Page Authors may see a new feedback survey that has been rolled out to Targeted Release customers.
    • No PII data is collected, this is purely to identify gaps in the Authoring experience.
  • Governance of External Users in Office 365 will be changing next month.
    • This change will remove External Users from the default EveryoneAll Authenticated Users, and All Forms Users groups.
